At Porelio, we are committed to a paradigm shift in the use of chemistry. For the people, and for nature – without exception. The most inspiring chemistry is the one we commit to the transformation of humankind and the preservation of our ecosystems. Our well-being must not depend on the destruction of the world. Therefore, we are working on the development of solutions to tackle the most pressing issues of our times: global warming, pollution, and disease. My role as the CTO is to lead the product development of the company based on strong principles, from the scientific to the societal point of view. We lead our R&D efforts following the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry to ensure we maximize the use of raw materials, eliminate the production of waste, and reduce the energy needs to create useful products. At the same time, we ensure the use of our inventions are used for good, always keeping in mind the dire consequences of not assessing the impact of old technologies and prolonging their phaseout. The transition of the chemical industry to a sustainable one is long, but we are in the midst of its transformation and we are committed to catalyze the process.

Chief Technology OfficerPorelio Mar 2024 - PresentLeading the R&D efforts at Porelio to develop adsorption solutions for separation and purification issues, including:- Purification of APIs and fine chemicals to ensure high purity, regulatory compliance and market access- Removal of challenging chemicals from water to ensure the highest water quality for human consumption and critical industrial use- CO2 separation, capture and transformation to minimize the effects of global warming -
Senior Research AssistantTechnische Universität Berlin Dec 2020 - Dec 2023Berlin, Berlin, DeLead of R&D in the validation of the multi-kilo scale production of functionalized ordered mesoporous silicas by a novel and innovative synthesis method. I’m leading the following R&D activities:- Synthesis of new materials by adapting and optimizing a proprietary synthesis method, which has achieved significant cost (70%) and energy (60%) reductions in comparison to the state of the art. - Focus on the surface chemistry to increase the options for acid and base catalysis.- Development of silica-based adsorbents and catalysts supports. - Tailoring of particle morphology to achieve different shapes and sizes for applications that require a defined particle nature.- Optimization of pore size to target size-dependent applications. -
Corporate Relations AnalystCdp Jul 2020 - Nov 2020London, London, GbTasks and responsibilities included:- Creating and maintaining data trackers that keep an oversight on corporate engagement in a disclosure system that collects data on climate change, water security and deforestation. - Analysis of data regarding the number of companies disclosing via CDP across Europe. -
Graduate ResearcherTechnische Universität Berlin Feb 2017 - Nov 2019Berlin, Berlin, DeCo-developed a large-scale, cost-efficient and sustainable process to produce functionalized materials. With our technology, we achieved a production cost reduction of 61% and a waste reduction of 79% in contrast to current technologies. The project aims at the launch of a spin-off in the future. • Successfully interpreted data to identify key features for process improvement• Designed, planned and executed experiments• Synthesis of new functionalized materials through rational design • Advanced characterization (XRD, Physisorption, XPS, NMR, TEM, SEM)• Identification and analysis of sustainable chemical applications• Over 140k € for the development• Spearheaded a project with 3 scientists• Hosted at the Inkulab incubator -
Graduate ResearcherTechnische Universität Berlin Oct 2013 - Jan 2017Berlin, Berlin, DeDeveloped supported vanadium oxide catalysts for the transformation of small alkanes in the frame of a PhD program• Synthesis of functionalized silica, vanadium precursors and supported catalysts• Advanced characterization (XPS, NMR, FT-IT, Raman, XRD, TEM, SEM)• Testing of catalysts in gas-phase transformations of alkanes• Data analysis of catalytic performance
