Started career in the Singapore public sector in 1978, serving in the Ministries of Transport, Finance and Trade & Industry and on the Boards of various statutory bodies and Government-linked companies. Key appointments over this period include Director of Budget , and Deputy Secretary in the Ministries of Finance and Transport.After 27+ years in the public sector, joined the private sector as CEO, ComfortDelGro (UK and Ireland) in 2004 to lead ComfortDelGro’s bus, coach, taxi, private hire and engineering operations in the UK and Ireland. Under Jaspal’s leadership, ComfortDelGro (UK and Ireland) grew via organic and acquisition growth from annual revenues of cS$590m in 2004 to cS$900m in 2017, constituting 22% of ComfortDelGro’s global revenues.Metroline, (ComfortDelgro’s London Bus operator) grew turnover from £173m in 2004 to £384m in 2017 to become London’s 2nd largest bus operator, operating 20% of Greater London’s bus mileage. Under Jaspal, Metroline consistently enjoyed the confidence of Transport for London (TfL) as one of London’s most reliable and dependable operators, and won ‘Bus Operator of the Year’ award at the 2016 London Transport Awards. In 2016r, Metroline was awarded a ‘Rail Passport’ by the Department for Transport, thereby pre-qualifying to bid for all upcoming rail franchises in the UK. For his achievements in the UK, Jaspal won the 'Outstanding Overseas Executive of the Year, 2017' award at the Annual Business Awards in Singapore in April 2018. Born into a Sikh family in New Delhi in 1953, the 5th child of Mr Gurbachan Singh and Mdm Amrit Kaur. The family migrated to Malaysia in 1954 where Jaspal grew up before pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of Newcastle in NSW, Australia on a Singapore Government Colombo Plan scholarship.Jaspal's post-graduate qualifications are a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government (1984-85) and the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Harvard Business School (Fall 2003).Jaspal is currently Senior Advisor (UK Business) to SPH Group, a listed entity on the SGX..
