Jeff is a litigation partner at Faegre Drinker, defending consumer and securities class actions for leading companies in the entertainment, technology, food, and retail sectors. He is a former head of the civil division of the New Jersey Attorney General's Office and Chief Counsel to the New Jersey Attorney General. Prior to joining Kelley Drye & Warren, Jeff was appointed Chief Counsel to the New Jersey Attorney General, a member of the Attorney General's executive staff, in July 2015. From March 2014-July 2015, he served as Director of the Division of Law in the Attorney General's Office, overseeing the roughly 500 attorneys who provide legal advice to State agencies and appear in court on behalf of the State. He regularly appears in federal and state trial-level and appellate courts.

From 2005-2014, Jeff was a litigation partner at the firm of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York City. His work focused on consumer and securities class action cases, data privacy and protection matters and complex electronic discovery challenges, and he has appeared in state and federal courts around the country. In addition to his litigation duties at Debevoise, he oversaw the firm’s 200-member legal support staff, developed training programs for litigation associates and was a member of the firm’s Hiring and Technology Committees. Prior to becoming a partner, he was a litigation associate at Debevoise. Jacobson received his law degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 1996. He holds both a Master’s Degree in Governmental Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in American Politics from the University of Pennsylvania. He has written extensively on class action and e-discovery strategies for such publications as the New York Law Journal, Class Action Litigation Report and Product Liability Law 360. He is a member of the advisory board of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists, has been recognized for his securities litigation excellence in the IFLR Benchmark Litigation Guide, and was recommended in 2013 by The Legal 500 U.S. for securities litigation, as well as for data protection and privacy. In 2014-2015, he served on the New Jersey Supreme Court task force considering changes to ethics and discovery rules to take account of electronic document metadata.
