PhD Thesis: Biophysical studies to unravel the mechanism of action of antimicrobial peptide PvD1.The thesis consisted of two project streams:1. Biophysical characterization of the mechanism of action of natural plant defensin PvD1 on breast cancer in-vitro model and analysis of peptide's interaction with biological membranes models. Additionally, the role of PvD1 in intercellular communication was investigated by using breast cancer cells-derived exosomes.Activity in-vitro screening was performed in collaboration with CEAMED SA.2. Generation of the synthetic replica of PvD1. The structure of the sythetic peptide was solved in parallel with the natural peptide using NMR technique. Additioanlly, both peptides were compared in terams of their original antifunagal activity using in-vitro and in-vivo models.Chemical synthesis was performed in collaboration with Prof. David Andreu Group at Barcelona Biomedical Research Park, University Pompeu Fabra.The PhD project was supported by Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange Grant
