I performed infrastructure assessments, consolidation/capacity plans, ROI/TCO calculations and planning related to adopting virtualization strategies. I worked with customers and manufacturers to transform design goals into requirements and design solutions based on those requirements. I performed all pre and post sales activities related to hardware / software sales, design, and delivery as well as customer training. Provided deep technical support for complex physical to virtual initiatives including Tier 1 application performance tuning.At IVOXY, I was involved in one way or another in many of the IaaS and SaaS infrastructures within the Pacific Northwest and helped lead the mainstream transition to virtualized workloads on centralized resources.

In Webtrends IT Operations organization, I provided top tier technical leadership to a team of system administrators while developing and implementing infrastructure solutions for the whole organization. In addition to the delivery of network services, new applications, compliance, and system maintenance, I championed and lead the virtualization initiative for the company. I performed capacity analysis, TCO, and ROI calculations for Virtualization Technology. I designed and specified all aspects of VMware ESX Cluster including network, storage, and integration with existing systems. I successfully implemented a VMware ESX Cluster reducing growth, obsolescence, and operational costs by hundreds of thousands. I also deployed non-clustered ESX servers in other areas to streamline server rapid provisioning for demo and sales engineering systems. This reduction in cost and footprint also delivered a significant performance and availability increase for all essential systems.

At Bates Private Capital I provided leadership and direction in transforming the small business infrastructure model into an enterprise class environment suitable for processing and storing financial data. I consolidated a workstation-based infrastructure to standard servers in a dedicated datacenter. I implemented Microsoft Exchange for a 300 user organization and migrated TBs of data from a legacy mail platform. I designed custom solutions based on OpenSource technologies, for example a highly available postgreSQL / Zope cluster for our internal development team.During an acquisition by LECG, I performed all integration and security remediation work as well as establishing security standards and procedures for the new parent company who had not yet adopted Active Directory.An interesting project of note was the fully scripted and logged upgrade of 1,500 workstations to Office 2003 without Active Directory or Configuration Management software. This deploy included third-party applications, add-ons, and customizations.

ESDO was a small group of highly specialized team members building E-service infrastructures. In this role, I was involved in a wide variety of related industry concepts, planning, and technology. My regular duties included the preparation and deployment of HP9000/700/800 series workstations and servers. I built and configured HP Ignite/SD-UX depot deployment servers for remote Operating System and Application installation. I configured these systems to do automated rebuilds of our Web Application servers, Database servers, and metrics servers in both our staging and live sites. This capability allowed an entire E-service site to be fully recovered or upgraded at a remote location from anywhere at any time. This involved extensive use of scripting and converting custom software/system settings to deliverable packages (Install scripts, RPMs, or HP distributions). This was highly useful since our systems were located in remote data centers. I wrote configuration scripts with sh, Perl, and helped developers debug Java code. During the planning and design phases, I worked closely with other engineers in all aspects of the infrastructure design. I was responsible for the administration of the HP PrintButton live servers including security. I was part of a 24x7 rotation for 99.99% uptime support of our product and acted as the primary liaison for operations communication with our staging facility.
