My academic interests focus on the study of the archaeological past of the Isthmus of Panama particularly as it pertains to the colonial period of its history and the analysis of ceramic material. I am interested in investigating issues related to processes of formation and negotiation of social identities through the study of material culture, the impacts of colonization on indigenous and African groups, and their cultural responses. I am also interested in the pre-Columbian past of the country (particularly that of the Gran Darien region), and the establishment of cultural areas through the study of the production and circulation of ceramic artifacts.
