Jung-Suk (JS) Ryu is the President and CEO of the National accessArts Centre presented by TD Ready Commitment (NaAC), returning to the organization that he led as its founding President and CEO from 2020 to 2023 (and serving as the CEO of one of its preceding organizations, the Indefinite Arts Centre, from 2017 to 2020). During his initial tenure, he led the merger of three disability arts companies in 2020 to create the country's first multidisciplinary disability arts organization. Under his leadership, the Centre almost tripled in size, opened the Won Lee Community Arts Hub in Toronto, and finalized a multimillion dollar partnership with the City of Calgary that will begin the development of North America's first accessible arts learning campus.Prior to joining the NaAC, JS held senior roles across a broad range of sectors, including: Director, External Relations at The Banff Centre; Director, Public Affairs with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind; Senior Consultant with the Alberta Medical Association; and Principal Speechwriter to His Excellency Kaoru Ishikawa, Ambassador of Japan. Earlier in his career, he was a senior-level campaign director and aide to one of Canada’s most prominent politicians.JS is a Salzburg Global Fellow, a member of the Banff Forum, and was named one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine in 2019. In 2022, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, and this was followed in 2024 with the awarding of the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
