Shire Hgt (Human Genetics Therapy) In Cambridge, Ma

I provided, within my scope of practice, urgent and non-urgent medical care to ~270 workers at Shire HGT including immunizations and PPD’s (Tuberculosis Skin Testing). I performed Workers’ Compensation case management, “fit for duty” evaluations and created Work Hardening plans for recovering employees. I assisted HR, EAP, HSE and management with ADA, HIPAA and ergonomic issues. I worked as a team member in wellness initiatives including cholesterol screening, vision checks and created Jeopardy® type wellness games for presentation. I was responsible for Shire HGT’s clinic and managed their medical records.

General Motors Corporation, Norton, Massachusetts

As sole clinician and Supervisory Occupational Health RN at GM’s SPO-55, a half-million square foot warehousing facility in Norton, MA I provided work and non-work related medical care to GM and contracted employees. I managed non-DOT urine or hair drug screen collection, performed General Motor’s mandated various surveillance physicals (First Responder, Powered Industrial Truck Operators, Firefighters, Maintenance Crew, etc.) including EKGs, gave classes in Red Cross First Aid/AED & GM Bloodborne Pathogens and oversaw PPE Fit Testing. As a member of GM’s Safety Committee I participated in accident investigation, ergonomic issue resolution, safety inspections and walkthroughs. I consulted with management and medical director on ADA, FMLA and held prime responsibility for GM’s and UAW’s ADAPT ((Accommodating DisAbled People in Transition) program (GM/UAW’s Return to Work Program) and was responsible for Workers' Compensation case management. I was responsible for Clinic purchasing, licensing and electronic and non-electronic medical data systems. I collaborated with dozens of other GM nurses and gave occasional educational presentations. My greatest success was being able to not only work with UAW members and management during a particularly stressful economic period but to enjoy doing so.
