Quantalux is a small business focused on the development of new solutions for sustainable energy production. Activities include technology R&D, economic analyses and cost-benefit assessments for biogas systems. Uniquely, our team has experience with Carbon Intensity (CI) modeling for dairy-based RNG projects.Since 2019, Quantalux has supported the design and construction of a dairy based Renewable Natural Gas facility in mid-Michigan. Prior to 2019, projects have included the development of innovative pilot-scale digesters, feasibility studies on system design, and due diligence assessments for investors. My primary role in the company is to identify technology opportunities, and to execute the work when awarded. Like most entrepreneurs, I also manage my business on a day-to-day basis, which includes managing the budgeting/payroll, recruiting /retaining employees and networking with other professionals. Quantalux has been funded by USDA/NIFA for a number of SBIR projects,. both Phase I and Phase II.

MForesight is a think-tank located at the University of Michigan focused on emerging technologies for advanced manufacturing. MForesight seeks to identify emerging advanced manufacturing trends in areas as diverse as regenerative medicine and renewable energy.My role in MForesight was to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to analyze and prioritize new advanced manufacturing technologies. Our team worked with government, industry and academic professionals to forecast new manufacturing approaches that will enhance U.S. competitiveness. Based on our findings, the MForesight team then developed recommendations for positive actions that will likely result in an increase in public/ private investment in these promising technology areas.

From 1998 to 2007, I was the Director of R&D at Cybernet Systems in Ann Arbor. My primary responsibility was to develop technical concepts, write proposals, and manage development teams. The technical areas were very diverse, ranging from robotics to optical systems (imaging, illumination and projection systems). An important part of the SBIR management role was to coordinate with US Government sponsors. This included several briefings to Congressional staff (and Members) in Washington DC for our Phase III with the US Navy.
