Clackamas Community Prosperity Collaboratives (CCPC) brought stakeholders to the table to develop inclusive, equitable and sustainable ways for everyone to have what they need to thrive. CCPC was funded by Clackamas County. All our Design Labs - active in Canby, Estacada, and Milwaukie - were made up of community members who either had experience with poverty or were involved in the various sectors that support our community – sometimes both! My role with CCPC entailed ensuring smooth project communication and developing a PR campaign to gain traction and momentum. My role in the Canby Design Lab involved facilitating local bilingual conversations to address income inequality in our community.

My role at Canby Foursquare entailed integrating social justice and community engagement into our local church context via the following initiatives:• Spearheaded an annual initiative to bring together sponsors, medical and service providers that resulted in $198K being given to un and under-insured neighbors in our community over a three year period.• Facilitated a partnership with a local elementary school to connect students with lunch time mentors and offer support to school initiatives.• Developed learning avenues to engage church congregants in social justice learning experiences, projects and programs.• Built relationships with local nonprofits, city leaders and community members to gage community needs and assets as well as partner together for various projects and programs.

Spokane, Washington Area

I had the privilege of working at a free summer camp geared towards at-risk youth from low income families. While facilitating challenge course groups to foster teamwork and trust, I saw hardened kids open up and insecure kids realize their value. I myself learned quite a bit from their willingness to work together, their incredible ideas, and the strength they had to overcome hard situations. I also developed a rule structure and swimmer counting system to ensure safety on waterfront.

During my two year internship at Canby New Life, I organized the church's first social justice conference, assisted key leaders with administrative tasks, honed my leadership skills, provided hospitality to church members and served in all the different areas of ministry. The experience taught me adaptability, the value of excellence, time-management, communication, leadership and many other invaluable skills. Specific accomplishments included: • Developing and implementing the first Social Justice Conference at the church, including funding proposal, partnership with local non-profits, and organizing team to facilitate the event; • Handling finances and budget for ministry trip and fundraising event;• Providing administrative support for local community center including screening candidates for free dental care and acting as non-profit liaison for a community health fair;• Delivering three public speeches on the role of social justice in the church for audiences of 120, 60 and 800;• Building relationships with church and community members to create positive perception of the internship program.

* Seasonal: Summers '09 - '14 *My role at the City was two-fold: 1. Ensure children learned how to swim in a safe, fun and organized environment. 2. Provide excellent customer service as a representative of the City. The administrative side involved processing payments, registrations, pool transfers and refund requests. The teaching side often involved turning children who were scared and resistant to the water into confident swimmers.
