Gifted Enrichment Teacher
Current- Provide specialized instruction for identified gifted students in grades 3-5 in a pull-out model- Chosen to join inaugural cohort of teachers to launch WINGS (What I Need to Grown as a Student) period to provide enriched and differentiated instruction in math and ELA to students in grades K-5- Demonstrate teacher leadership as a new teacher mentor and teacher representative on the 2020 Reopening Task Force’s Health Screening and Monitoring Subcommittee- Selected by Long Beach Classroom Teachers Association President to serve as representative on hiring committees for key administrative vacancies including 2022 search for assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction- Taught enrichment-for-all course entitled SPIRIT (Specialized Program Integrating Research, IB Principles & Twenty First Century Technology) to entire student population, including students in 6:1:2 and ICT classrooms, in grades 3-5- Coached several Odyssey of the Mind teams that qualified for World Finals including the 2021 elementary World Champions - Continually update "live curriculum" for both G&T and schoolwide enrichment programs in order to ensure that both programs include rich inquiry opportunities for students - Wrote a K-5 scope & sequence for embedding coding instruction in library media instruction - Represented Long Beach Public Schools as curriculum writer for Nassau BOCES elementary social studies project- Host intervisitations from other school personnel so the best practices of G&T instruction can be utilized in all classrooms - Design and instruct professional development on gifted students for general education teachers to best meet needs of gifted population and enhance overall pedagogy
