The General Manager (GM) – ICT and Business Solutions is part of the functional Business Information Technology (BIT) Business Unit. This is a pivotal role in shaping our organization's technology landscape and driving digital transformation.The objectives of the BIT team are to provide quality solutions and technology to support and enable the business in the following key focus areas: • Service excellence • Excellence in quality standards • Responsiveness• Growth with a human focusAll underpinned by cultural imperatives for our constituents.

As part of this role, I am hoping to lead a team of talented and motivated individuals in enabling our business to take full advantage of the new functionalities of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform and more!

In the past year I have been privileged enough to be involved with an upgrade project from end to (near) end. I have been involved almost all aspects of the upgrade and have been heavily entrenched with team members providing guidance and assistance in all facets of the project. I have also picked up a lot of valuable skills and concepts in implementing the Microsoft ecosystem and their new service and subscription model.Technologies and concepts I have become proficient in:- Microsoft Dynamics for Finance & Operations - Extensive knowledge on the Operations Model Architecture, development and work flow from the developers machine to a live instance- Microsoft Dynamics for Sales - Environment maintenance, development deployments, entities, forms, and workflow designs. Advanced concepts such as Virtual Entities and Sharepoint Integration setup- Lifecycle Services (LCS) - Provisioning environments from scratch, applying updates, promoting code and database from a Tier-1 to a Tier-2 machine- LCS Business Process Modeler - Setting up a library structure for F&O Task Recordings- PowerApps - Basic canvas app creation, endpoint connectivity and the usage of the formula syntax to create scripts - PowerApps Admin (Common Data Services Integrations) - creation of integration projects such as Prospect to Cash, connections between CRM and Operations and other possible end points- Microsoft Flow - Developing integrations between various end points- Azure - Configurations of Resource Groups, Network Security Group, Virtual Machines, Storage, LogicApps- Visual Studio Online - Release management and Build Definition configuration concepts

The following are my accomplishments in the past 12 months:- Provided an approach for the project team to upgrade the existing Dynamics AX 2009 ERP to a combination of Dynamics 365 for Sales (CRM) and Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (F&O)- Assisted project leaders to establish various work teams (onshore and offshore) to focus on separate development streams, reporting, data cleansing, migration, security and user help systems- Engaged with subject matter experts to gather requirements in a Business Activity Model, as well as guide other Business Analysts on how to elicit business requirements- Developed a Functionality Survey to illicit functional usage requirements of the existing AX2009 system - Collaborate with various onshore and offshore contractors and service providers. Provide knowledge and insights into the current system as well as guidance on the project's technical direction- Conceptualized, specified and assisted with developing an interface integration allowing instant contextual access of F&O forms directly from a CRM button (using F&O's deeplinks concept)- Identified the shortcomings of CRM's out-of-the-box Virtual Entities and collaborated with external partners to extended the function to render data directly from an F&O Data Entity's oData feed- Provided analysis of the pros and cons and the differences between Flow, CDS and LogicApps for integration usage and eventual recommendations of which middleware application to use.- Provided developmental guidance to extend a partner's bespoke integration middleware to provide synchronous and asynchronous data integration between CRM and F&O along with various flexibilities that Microsoft CDS Integration is unable deliver (at the time of writing)- Provide technical training to developers, testers and analysts on various aspects of the Dynamics ecosystem

Development and maintenance of the AX2009 system

Upgraded DSE's customized AX module called the Water Register. The Water Register is a public register of all water-related entitlements in Victoria. It has been designed and built to record water entitlements with integrity and provide crucial information for managing Victoria’s water resources.Duties include:- Provide technical expertise and guidance with upgrading the Water Register from AX version 3 to Dynamics AX 2009- Delivery of a stable environment for QA and UA testing by going through the Dynamics AX 2009 upgrade procedures and addressing challenging issues such as code conflicts and database versions inconsistencies.- Work closely with Business Analysts and Project Managers to fulfill our client's Change Requests, delivering high quality modifications to the existing codebase as well as applying the same logic to the new AX environment, taking into careful consideration any logical and structural differences present in standard AX- Work together with Quality Assurance to ensure the change request implemented are as bug free as possible and address any potential flaws or deviations from the CR documentation- Provide expert advice on AX related matters to other project members and stakeholders who work besides the AX implementation. eg Assist Database Analysts and BI and Reporting in understanding various aspects of the AX database schema. Collaborate with Web and .NET developers in utilising AX's integration framework to correctly deliver data in and out of the system- Mentor junior developers and ensure AX best practices are applied
