Judy’s well-rounded professional experience includes association management, site selection, independent event planning, in-house corporate meeting planning, as well as concierge and destination management expertise. San Diego Business Journal has twice recognized Judy as one of their “Top 500 Business Leaders in San Diego” (2017 & 2021). Specializing in site selection and contract negotiation, Judy joined HelmsBriscoe in 2015 as Manager, Global Accounts. As a personal advocate for her clients, she can leverage HB’s hotelier relationships and buying power to save their money and time, allowing them to focus efforts on their events. Judy has served for the past 10 years as Executive Director for the Association for Corporate Growth-San Diego, managing the chapter’s events, sponsorships, membership, leadership, marketing, financial oversight, and DEI efforts, as well as annual Capital Conference. Additionally, she managed several other noteworthy associations in recent years, including Corporate Directors Forum, STAR San Diego (Strategic Trusted Advisors Roundtable) and The Center for Wealth & Legacy. In 2011, Judy attended MPI’s prestigious Certification in Meeting Management program and achieved the premiere professional designation of CMM, while a co-owner of a meeting planning business. Her career began in New York City working in Merrill Lynch’s corporate meeting planning department. Relocating to San Diego in 1988, Judy worked for the San Diego Marriott and the Coronado Le Meridien, before joining then-premiere DMC, California Leisure Consultants, as a program manager. Next, she returned to corporate planning at Chase Manhattan Mortgage as their Meeting & Tradeshow Planner, AVP. Judy’s expertise includes managing associations, coordinating events, meetings, tradeshows, site selection/inspections, contracts/negotiations, cancellations/rebooking, budgets, catering, registration, travel, and dealing with C-Level executives, VIPs and staff. She has successfully coordinated a wide range of events from 30 to more than 3,000 people, planned modest meetings on a shoestring budget, and managed million dollar budgets for sales incentives. Judy brings to the table extensive experience in a variety of professional positions, along with a reinvigorated enthusiasm for each new project and possibility.
