I oversee all things on the front-end of projects including research, strategy, branding, user experience design, and user testing. My goal is to provide a clear path towards satisfying both the user needs and business objectives of projects. Everything we build is centered around the user, leveraging usability best-practices and sound coding standards. We have designed and developed all manners of sites and apps, from marketing, ecommerce, and intranets to all manners of mission-critical custom applications at the enterprise level. We have a long list of national and local clients across many sectors. Clients have included Walmart, BNSF Railway, Merck Animal Health, AMC Theaters, T-Mobile, Hallmark, Childrens Mercy Hospital and others. We've also done work for the U.S. Department of Defense and local government.

My freelance work has included a bit of everything over the years: branding, print, interactive and illustration. Last major side work involved designing blads and books for a London book packager, that were picked up and published by Barnes & Nobel.Only do occasional select projects on the side these days. But if you have something interesting you feel wouldn't make sense going through Level Five, I'd certainly be willing to chat.

My role at DTL, a long-standing KC design studio founded in 1983, was to handle the creative and coding of any interactive projects that came through the door. This was usually in the form of standards-based HTML/CSS and Flash at the time. I also did traditional branding work, print design and illustration. Clients included Sprint, Embarq, Honeywell-Manning Systems, Gift of Life Foundation and others.

I structured and taught a web-focused senior-level Illustration class in 2004. The goal was to help the students evolve their conceptual thinking beyond a static experience, applying it to interactivity and animation. I am also invited to provide consulting and critique on a reoccurring basis.

Greensoft was a growing web development firm at the time, and I was responsible for managing the front-end of things. The work focused on user experience design and coding of interfaces and template-based systems for content managed sites and applications utilizing ColdFusion, PHP and ASP platforms. Clients included Sprint, Carter Petroleum, Houlihan's Restaurant Group and others.

D3 was a boutique design studio that offered design, marketing and advertising services.I was brought on to expand D3's website-building capabilities during the days of text editors and table tags. I designed and coded front-ends for static and database-driven sites. My project load was fairly well-rounded also including identity work, print design and illustration. Clients included Boulevard Brewing, Campfire Boys and Girls, Helzberg Diamonds, NewTek software and others.

This internship for Bagel & Bagel (now known as Einstein Bros Bagels) required hand drawn art and design in their whimsical style for POP displays and ads. Finest Group also owned Boston Market and I had the opportunity to do work for them during my time there as well. Free bagels were a good perk.

My first design job was part-time while I was attending the design progam at Kansas. Packerware competed nationally in the plastics industry and I was part of the internal creative dept doing illustration, design and print production for plastic cups. Clients included Coca-cola, NFL, MLB and others.
