Software Engineer Ii
Current- Develop and test software (Python backend with Django, REST APIs, relational database) to support life science R&D and production campaigns (over 50 laboratory workflow iterations) spanning nucleic acids, proteins, and cell biology.- Design and deploy relational LIMS databases and ETL pipelines to ingest, process and load machine learning predictions, experimental data and results, and inventory information with pandas, numpy, biopython, Prefect, etc. to support ML-driven therapeutics development and experiment parameter optimization, resulting in highly optimized protein expression parameters as well as high-performing nucleic acid products.- Incorporate and configure vendor systems for ELN and LIMS (Benchling, Semaphore Solutions, Teselagen) as well as CRO services (Twist Bioscience, IDT) through developer API and Web UI into software workflows.- Work with automation engineers to translate laboratory workflows into automated systems by writing programs to generate worklists for liquid handlers (e.g. Lynx, FlexDrop, Echo, Opentrons) and developing algorithms to optimize liquid handler performance and minimize reagent waste.- Handle bioinformatics tasks such as primer generation for site-directed mutagenesis and NGS alignment using biopython and blast.- Work as part of a larger agile software team to standardize CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jira integration) and AWS practices (S3, EC2, CodeArtifact, RDS) for the entire company.- Manage software requirements with wet lab scientists, automation engineers and ML scientists, and clearly document code and user stories for stakeholders across all teams.
