I am currently a Senior Security Researcher at Barracuda Networks. I started at Barracuda as an intern while attending San Jose State University after winning a Hackathon they organized there. While interning, I built a library for language detection, an application for clustering similar textual content to facilitate easier classification, and a few small metrics applications.After graduating with a degree in Computer Science I started working at Barracuda full time as a Software Engineer and built our malware detection platform ATP that seamlessly connects the majority of our products to some of the best malware detection companies out there through a single API in addition to applying our own detection and filtering logic. After a good deal of exposure to the various threats out there through maintaining the system and the spark generated from attending my first DEFCON I became interested in security research and I was fortunate to eventually be able to transition into my current role as a Senior Security Researcher.I have a B.S. in Computer Science with minors in Mathematics and Linguistics, a certificate in Computational Linguistics, and an A.A. in Art and Digital Media from Diablo Valley College.Additionally, I have taken a number of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) on Coursera, Udacity, and Udemy, most of which relating to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software design and development.I enjoy competitions involving computer science and have competed in the DEFCON Wireless Capture the Flag four times--two of which my team won the competition and a Black Badge--and two programming competitions, which I placed first in. I was also the coach for my community college's ACM ICPC teams.
