IWD is a state agency that provides employment services to job seekers through IowaWORKS offices across the state. As part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s American Job Center network, IWD manages state and federally funded programs designed to help strengthen the state’s workforce and economy.‣ Led team through multiple pandemic-related operational shifts. Successfully upskilled team to administer multiple new federal emergency unemployment benefit programs. ‣ Supervised team of 9 employees, initiated and led hiring and onboarding processes, conducted performance evaluations, delegated, and tracked project responsibilities, ensured compliance with state regulations, and provided workplace accommodations as needed. Oversaw operations budget of $1M annually. ‣ Oversees the integrated service delivery of workforce development programs for a 7-county area covering North Iowa under the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA). Monitors integrated IowaWORKS policies, providing supervision to teams/staff. Collaborates with all on-site partners for optimum coordination of customer flow, access to all services, non-duplication of processes, sharing of information, and attainment of performance measures.‣ Establishes good working relationships and serve as liaison with other community agencies, training providers, and business associations. Implements and maintains comprehensive public relations activities. Responsible for growing public partnerships across the workforce system.

The University of Chicago is a top-ranked private research university. The Office of Career Advancement works with the roughly 6,500 undergraduates from the liberal arts College. Through their flagship Jeff Metcalf Internship Program, they have created over 2,800 internship opportunities in the 2018-2019 academic year. ‣ Oversaw employer outreach and internship coordination for multiple internship cohorts in the policy, non-profit, government, environmental sustainability, and healthcare fields, establishing more than 200 new employer partnerships since 2014.‣ Managed $500K budget of restricted and unrestricted donor gifts to provide stipends for unpaid internship through the Jeff Metcalf Internship Program.‣ Managed biannual undergraduate career & internship fairs and coordinated 40 staff members in running the fair. Catholic Charities of Chicago is one of the largest private non-profit social service agencies in the Midwest, providing assistance to more than a million people annually regardless of religious, ethnic, or economic background. The Veterans Employment Program assists military veterans who are referred from numerous organizations—such as homeless shelters, addiction rehab facilities, and the Department of Corrections—and works to help them find and maintain employment. ‣ Built and maintained relationships with local businesses as a means of finding employment for military veterans. Continued regular contact with employers to predict and assess future hiring needs. Maintained an 80% employer satisfaction rate.‣ Provided employment assessment and placement assistance for more than 200 unemployed veterans under a two-year (2010-2012) Department of Labor-funded grant designed to support only 100 veterans. Achieved a placement rate of 79% throughout grant.‣ Increased quarterly placement rate for veterans with severe employment barriers between July 2013 and July 2014 from 42% of goal to 123% of goal.‣ Worked under multiple government and private grants. Maintained quality assurance standards through accurate and detailed documentation for each funder, in addition to inter-agency reporting. VEP scored 100% on Council on Accreditation audit (highest in agency).

PATH is a social service referral hotline serving 4 counties in Central Illinois that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hotline is a 2-1-1 social service call center that also takes local crisis calls from the National Suicide Hotline Network. ‣ Supervised 7 volunteers through 8-week training program.‣ Located and provided social service information and referrals for callers in 4 surrounding counties in Illinois’ first 2-1-1 program.‣ Evaluated weekly progress of each trainee and helped them improve skills.‣ Monitored volunteers’ call-logs to ensure proper referrals were given and records of each referral were properly documented.
