As head instructor, I'm responsible for the instruction of our 8-week immersive curriculum focused on Ruby on Rails, Javascript and Node.js; hiring, training and supporting our teaching staff; and helping our students become professional software developers.We maintain a high quality of instruction, and have a solid track record for successfully producing junior developers: 100% of our alumni's secure full-time internships or junior programming positions within the first 3 months of graduation.

Lighthouse Labs is an 8-week immersive coding bootcamp focused on Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and Node.js. Our program consistently helped students with little to no coding backgrounds secure full-time internships upon graduation. As their instructor, I helped students overcome the struggles of learning how to program, trained them to be proficient programmers, and gave them the tools to be self-reliant. I also wrote their part-time front-end web development curriculum, that teaches beginners the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and jQuery.

At 37signals, my role was focused on increasing conversion and retention for our flagship product, Basecamp. My work helped our team increase our sign up rates by 28% (or roughly over 1500 per week) among other improvements.

I ran a conversion optimization consultancy to help online businesses design landing pages, map user personas, and manage their split testing campaigns.

I was in charge of the library's user experience design efforts, from defining a project's strategic goals to standardizing our visual design. I created our internal UI pattern library, created our user research process and was responsible for designing and prototyping many of our projects.

I'm a third dan black belt in Taekwondo, and was a nationally ranked athlete—having competed in numerous international competitions over 10 years. My career highlight includes ranking 1st men's overall in province and 7th in division in Canada for Olympic Sparring. I represented Team Canada at the World University Games in 2007 and 2011 and at the World Poomsae Championships in 2006. As an instructor, I taught our traditional curriculum (forms, self-defence, and fundamentals) and Olympic sparring.
