Expert in utilizing mixed research methods, data analysis, and prototyping to design both hardware and software products. Some of the projects I led: ˆ Inside Surface Duo 2 — Microsoft’s two screen mobile device for multitasking & hybrid work (https://youtu.be/yxHWDsLDN_8?t=151)ˆ Research Proves Your Brain Needs Breaks(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/worklab/work-trend-index/brain-research)ˆ Using EEG signals to assess workload during memory retrieval in a real-world scenario(https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1741-2552/accbed)Medium where I write about HF, UX, and games (in Chinese): https://medium.com/@stevendong2I am a human factors engineer and user researcher with a B.S in Psychology and a Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design. I was the senior human factors researcher at the Microsoft Human Factors Center of Excellence and have established the neuroergonomics function within the group. Combined with my interest in computers and the latest technology, my job is to form the connection between humans and technology and to design a way that allows technology to become part of our life. With both science and design training, I solve the problem in a systematic, scientific, and creative way. In my leisure time, I am a gamer, game developer, and VR/AR, enthusiast. I enjoy creating characters, stories, and fantasy worlds, and studying how the cultures influence the gameplay and player preference. It not only allows me to share my imagination with others but also trained me to think freely and out of the boundary. With the advance of technology, I am excited about how the future of storytelling could have changed, how humans could interact with each media and each other in a new way, and how user research and interaction could help us shaping the user experience.
