Provide values-based estate planning services to supporters of nonprofit organizations, helping the people who participate in the process, the sponsoring nonprofit organization, and the broader community.

Serve as planned giving advisor to Greater Public and as a resource to its public media member organizations and stations nationwide.

Assisted and advised Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media in transition to new Planned Giving Director, including assistance with on-boarding and training.

Led and managed all aspects of planned giving program for nation’s second-largest public media organization; built trust and strong relationships with donors and potential donors, colleagues, board members, and professional advisors; maintained active management of a portfolio of planned and major gift donors and prospects; grew Legacy Society from fewer than 400 household members to more than 1,000, setting institutional records for new members in six out of seven fiscal years; quintupled total dollar amounts in known future gift commitments over seven years; managed planned giving staff; planned and executes donor cultivation and stewardship events; solicited planned, major, and annual gifts; provided legal analysis to General Counsel regarding development matters across APMG entities; provided planned giving and trust-and-estate administration consultation for staff in Minnesota, Florida, and California; trained philanthropic development staff on planned giving topics and techniques; drafted and presented charitable gift annuity (CGA) and charitable remainder trust (CRT) illustrations to donors; drafted CGA documents and Memoranda of Agreement; advised President/CEO, CFO, General Counsel, SVPs, and other senior leaders on various matters; helped develop strategies and plans for campaign; led, planned, wrote, and executed MPR|APM’s e-mail, web, print, and on-air planned giving marketing.

Managed the Law School’s alumni relations and annual giving programs and staff; assisted Director with management and strategic planning for Office of Advancement and development operations, including $70 million Law School Generations Campaign; worked with and advised Dean, Associate Deans, and Assistant Deans on various matters; maintained active management of portfolio of 125+ major gift donor prospects; staffed Board of Advisors and Alumni Relations and Community Engagement Committee; served as liaison to corporate general counsel and to alumni in D.C. and Texas; served as office expert on planned giving matters; planned and executed numerous alumni relations and cultivation events both locally and out of state; drafted and edited articles and other informational materials; managed creation and rollout of Law School online community; served on Law School Diversity Committee; guest lectured to undergraduate and Law School classes.

Met and worked with major and principal gift donors and their professional advisors to structure charitable gifts in ways that best fit each donor’s particular goals and circumstances; provided University-wide expertise on all manner of complex and basic planned gifts utilizing both simple and sophisticated strategies; advised collegiate unit development offices and UMF senior leadership team on gift planning, gift administration, and trust- and estate-related matters; trained University development officers in planned giving techniques, opportunities, and issue identification; maintained portfolio of 250+ donors and donor prospects; identified, cultivated, solicited, and stewarded major, principal, and planned-gift prospects and donors; drafted and edited various articles and informational materials; assisted in coordination with other UMF departments; consulted on various strategic development initiatives; served on search committees resulting in the hiring of eight collegiate unit development colleagues across the University and participated significantly in three other hirings; closed many seven-figure gifts and one eight-figure gift.
