As DanceBlue's App & Web Coordinator, I took over management of our Google Cloud resources, WordPress site, and React Native mobile app from the previous coordinator. I expanded the use of these resources within the committee and built a React Single Page Application (SPA) admin portal to enable non-technical users to efficiently administer the app. Additionally, I collaborated with the University of Kentucky to integrate our systems with the University’s single sign on login for seamless access. My role also involved working closely with priorities from five different external committees, ensuring alignment between their needs and the technical capabilities we were developing.Upon my recommendation and request, the position of App & Web Coordinator was divided into design and development roles. As the new App & Web Development Coordinator, I focused on enhancing DanceBlue's technical capabilities. Under my leadership, we migrated our infrastructure from Google Cloud and Firebase to a more robust and flexible setup using PostgreSQL and Node.js with a GraphQL API. As part of this redesign, I designed a new admin portal allowing committee members to track fundraiser attendance and participation, add events to be shown on our website and app, configure the app with key/value configs, send rich notifications, and create and modify users and teams. To simplify development and help with the eventual handover of my role, I configured CI/CD using GitHub actions to build, test, and deploy our admin portal, server, and OTA updates for our mobile app. Throughout the entire process I architected our API structures, database schema, and project/development management.

As a Resident Advisor I have worked on a team of 18 other staff members to operate a residence hall of almost seven hundred students. I was responsible for communicating with and monitoring forty residents directly, focusing on their needs as a student and their physical and emotional health. When on call or working a desk shift I was responsible for managing any issues or crises that arose anywhere in the building. I worked alongside our campus partners including police, EMS, maintenance, counseling services, and academic support to create a safe and supportive environment.As a member of the Office of Residence Life’s policy and procedure task force I collaborated with four members of the Executive Team and Senior Staff to develop new policies and reform existing ones to meet new departmental challenges. Alongside the rest of the task force I reviewed every department procedure, created new campus-wide communication standards, and helped deploy new technologies to aid our mission.

In my two summers as a software development intern I performed contract work on eight projects, two of which were internal projects. Around three quarters of my time was working on traditional SPAs, node.js servers, and MySQL databases. The remainder was working on a number of smaller projects including embedded software, desktop applications, iOS and Android applications, database design, and hardware testing. For the first quarter of my employment I focused almost exclusively on frontend web development as a learned internal systems and design standards. After that I began working on REST APIs and hardware-integrated Qt desktop apps, eventually resulting in me being assigned a hardware-to-cloud integration project to plan a design for. Starting my second year I also began working on integration between services and hardware, as well as cloud resources.

I frequently take on a number of roles at Wilson's due to the relatively small staff. My primary responsibilities involve serving Wilson's customers, whether that be checking them out at the front desk or in the deli. At Wilson's deli counter we serve hot sandwiches, sliced meats and cheeses, all of which I am responsible for taking orders for, preparing, and monitoring of the stock during the day. Beyond my regular duties I also prepare our various packaged and oven ready foods. In the event a shift lead is unavailable, I am responsible for opening or closing the store. I often make trips to our other store location to share supplies. I work on a team of about fifteen regular hourly employees as well as a handful of butchers and bakers, all of whom I collaborate with and in some cases, lead on my shift. I am now one of the most experienced employees in the store.
