Investigating the effect of biological aging and cellular senescence on vascular and cardiovascular health. We aim to elucidate the mechanisms behind vascular and cardiovascular dysfunction as it relates to cellular senescence as well as identifying novel candidate senolytic compounds to evaluate in pre-clinical animal models of senescence and vascular dysfunction.

Evaluated the ability of different senolytic compounds in reducing senescent cell burden which may alleviate age-associated vascular and cardiovascular dysfunction. Projects consist of pre-clinical in vivo studies in support of clinical development with partnered companies.

Dissertation: Investigation of aging effects on regenerative outcomes following treatment of volumetric muscle loss injury.• Developed and tested biologically-derived biomaterials to be evaluated for biocompatibility and regenerative potential in both in vivo and in vitro models.• Headed all projects involving testing of regenerative scaffolds in aging animal models.• Assisted in the design and construction of a uniaxial stretch bio-reactor for in vitro investigations aimed at understanding the mechanobiology of myogenesis.• Mentored and trained undergraduate assistants in a wide variety of skills to help them become independent in their own projects.• Collaborated with multi-disciplinary team of scientists and researchers on various projects and publications.• Managed and maintained lab resources and equipment to adhere to GLP practices.

• Assisted and taught Senior Biomedical Engineering students in their capstone design course.• Provided guidance with the design and rapid prototyping of biomedical devices for projects.• Performed maintenance and troubleshooting on 3-D printers used for prototyping and was responsible for ordering project components for all teams throughout the year.
