Mr. Juan C. Toral, PE is Vice President and Co-founder of our organization and has over 15 years of electrical power focused experience. He began his career in the electrical apparatus and protective relay testing industry, then transitioned to the electrical consulting industry. During the past decade his work has focused on the design of high and extra high voltage substations for many industrial, institutional, mission critical, and other important clients. He has designed, executed, managed, and successfully commissioned numerous substations in close collaboration with the Team. He believes that curiosity and creativity is the fuel that drives and unites the team and promotes professional growth. His genuine focus on building solid relationships with clients will provide the continuous momentum to achieve FST’s long-term growth objectives and technical excellence.

Senior Substation Engineer responsible for engineering, design, and overview of electrical power-related projects. Other responsibilities are to oversee technical work of Staff Engineers, Electrical Designers and Drafters for electrical substation designs ranging from medium to extra high voltage systems. Additional functions include QA/QC of calculations, interfacing with clients, engineering services during construction, proposal writing, as well as defining project scopes, deliverables, and budgets.

• Lead substation electrical design calculations• Develop complex interlocking logic for commercial and industrial applications utilizing SEL relays• Create protection schemes with SEL RTAC and SEL DPAC equipment for substations• Develop GOOSE logic in SEL Architect for commercial and industrial applications• Manage projects and perform technical assignments.• Create settings, program and test Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), General Electric, Eaton, ABB relay equipment.• Prepare written scopes of work, developing budgets, and schedule work. • Work with other project managers/engineers/staff to monitor and improve project performance.• Work closely with management team and existing electrical team.• Pursue electrical services opportunities in both the public and private sector.• Lead electrical design calculations and direct other staff engineers.• Lead electrical system analysis using SKM Power Tools.• Lead field investigations and documentation of existing conditions.• Lead and supervise electrical system analysis performed by staff using hand calculations and computer software.• Interface and collaborate with project managers and senior staff on design solutions.

Electrical Engineer responsible for:• Create settings, program and test Schweitzer Engineer Laboratories (SEL) relay equipment• Perform electrical design calculations (i.e. medium/high voltage power distribution systems, facility systems, data/telecommunication systems, etc.)• Design systems and products• Review design specifications and technical drawings• Research suitable solutions and estimate costs and timescales• Record, analyze and interpret test data• Propose modifications and retest products

PRIT Service tests, analyzes, and makes recommendations to improve electrical power distribution and transmission systems. We perform power system studies including short circuit, coordination, load flow, arc flash, and others.

Supported maintenance troubleshooting and developed troubleshooting instructions for equipment problems. Coordinated engineering troubleshooting activities. ¨ Provided timely and accurate communications to stakeholders such as Operations, Maintenance, other Engineering groups, Management and external regulators. ¨ Developed configuration change documents that are required to create near-term engineering solutions to resolve or mitigate equipment concerns.
