As Technical Director of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Vertical, Javier helped senior decision makers in pharma and care delivery organizations leverage Cloud and AI.In Healthcare, Javier was the technical lead of the partnership with MEDITECH, to use Large Language Models for discharge summarization. Within pharma and biotech Javier helped Psivant (part of Roivant) scale 1000x their cloud drug discovery pipeline.Javier is a frequent public speaker on AI for pharma and biotech, including corporate events and academic courses, including Harvard School of Public Health.

In his role as Technical Director at the CTO Office Javier drives long term technical strategy for Google Cloud. The CTO Office has been called "Google Cloud's secret weapon" (https://accelerationeconomy.com/cloud/meet-google-clouds-secret-weapon-octo/). Javier worked on the Gaming, Media & Entertainment vertical. Focusing in particular on game server efficiency and using game engines to create synthetic data and simulation for AI development.Javier is also executive sponsor of top Google Cloud customers and advisor to C-suite executives; and helped close over a billion dollars worth of Cloud contracts. Javier is a frequent public speaker on technology, digital transformation and applied AI.

The Supply Chain team at Google enables procurement, assembly and deployment of billions of dollars in hardware. As overall technical lead Javier helped grow a team of 100+ engineers and led strategy for the organization, including supply chain visibility and automation. Javier also managed directly the foundational data APIs and MDM teams (master data management).The tools built by Javier's team enabled substantial cost savings (in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars) and compression of delivery timelines. Javier also established an org-wide engineering excellence program called SCDR (Supply Chain Design Review).

Javier founded a new reporting platform for Google Ads (called Athena). Javier's team built a new low-latency distributed system to creates data-rich, client ready reports. The efficiency improvements enabled by this platform drove billions of dollars of impact across the Sales organization.As the first engineer and lead developer in Athena, Javier led the team through multiple product-market fit interactions, reaching almost the entire target customer base. The increases in productivity were a key factor to enable Google's sales force to scale (from a $20B base) drastically over the next 3 years.

As Tech Lead in Webmaster Tools, Javier supervised, designed and built distributed systems, especially data pipelines to process PB of data, such as Google's entire web index. Javier also helped with strategic direction, reliability engineering, and expanding the product to millions of users worldwide.Javier was the original author of the Fetch as Googlebot and the initial Index Status features. Javier also wrote the site: promo on google.com. During Javier's time in Webmaster Tools the product grew by several million active customers.
