Cytori evaluated therapeutic applications for autologous adipose derived regenerative cells isolated by their proprietary device. I increased efficiencies and elevated the quality of basic research and preclinical studies, clarifying new therapeutic opportunities for adipose derived stem cells. I promoted domestic and global partnerships and relationships with other companies, clinicians and research centers to advance the application of the regenerative cells isolated by the Cytori device.

Novasite, a spinoff of Applied Molecular Evolution (AME), created and developed new technologies to accelerate GPCR drug discovery. I directed conception, development and validaton of a system capable of revitalizing GPCR drug discovery, especially for identification of allosteric modulators. Directed the screening and lead optimization teams to identify novel hits and perform early preclinical evaluations. Awarded $3.7M in NIH RO1 and SBIR grants and contributed to or managed an additional $6M of NIH grants.

Axiom developed drug discovery technologies with an emphasis on cell based assay systems. I coordinated a project between Axiom, an industrial partner and an academic team to integrate Axiom technology with a cell-based analytical technology, resulting in six US and foreign patents and an increase of Axiom’s screening capabilities.

Managed and expanded a facility in Denver to capture local academic expertise and coordinate research and drug discovery efforts that were based on novel eukaryotic screening technologies with New York corporate headquarters.

Syntex was a medium sized pharmaceutical company with product efforts in inflammation, immunosuppression, cardiovascular and other disease areas. Determined the mechanism of action of AravaTM as a DHOD inhibitor and led a team to develop an alternative compound with an improved profile. Discovered novel drug targets in the immune system and developed the first SAR series for the T lymphocyte calcium influx pathway (CRAC).
