With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of Maryland's annotated code and legislative process, I am tasked with reading and analyzing complex legislation to create policy briefs that are used by members and their staff.My role also includes preparing floor debate and strategy, which involves drafting and presenting ideas for amendments to legislation. Through rigorous policy research, I provide crucial insights to our team, ensuring that all decisions are informed by the latest and most accurate information.In addition, I am responsible for creating a weekly newsletter for the Minority Leader, highlighting key updates and news items that are relevant to our constituents. As the former Political Director for the Maryland Republican Party, I was responsible for driving the party's success in the state by working directly with candidates for Congress, County Executive, the state legislature, and local office. I provided resources, strategic planning, and support to ensure their success on election day.In this role, I was also responsible for assisting with fundraising operations, including major high-dollar events and small-dollar online fundraising. Additionally, I managed logistics and planning for our twice-yearly convention, a significant undertaking that required extensive attention to detail and strong project management skills.As Political Director, I also had a knack for graphic design and managed social media accounts and website content, which included publishing a weekly newsletter and candidate event listing. In this role, I was responsible for answering phone calls and emails from constituents, lobbyists, and the public, scheduling meetings with constituents and stakeholders, and tracking legislation.I also played an instrumental role in the legislative process, preparing written testimony, soliciting testimony from outside expert witnesses and interest groups, and ensuring that all relevant parties had a voice in the legislative process. Additionally, I prepared and wrote a weekly newsletter, updating constituents on important information around the legislative session and other beneficial state information.At the end of the session, I wrote the end-of-session letter that was sent to constituents, recapping the highlights of the 90-day session. As a former Doorkeeper in the Office of the US Senate Sergeant at Arms, I had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working in one of the most prestigious political institutions in the world. Throughout my summer internship, I had the privilege of working on Capitol Hill and witnessing the inner workings of the US Senate.My daily duties as a Doorkeeper included assisting visitors in the US Senate Gallery, ensuring they had a positive experience while watching proceedings on the Senate floor. I took pride in providing visitors with accurate and helpful information and making sure they had everything they needed to fully enjoy their visit to the Senate.Additionally, I was able to give visitors a tour of the US Capitol, sharing my knowledge and passion for the rich history and traditions of the United States government.
