It is the largest public land planning engagement process in the history of South Carolina. It builds upon regional growth and community development discussions initiated through The Post and Courier’s 2005 “At A Crossroads” series of newspaper articles; Opinion pieces in all area papers; the Citistates Report published in September and October of 2007; facilitated discussions by many different community organizations, including the Urban Land Institute’s “Reality Check” and See2030 campaign; along with the ongoing updates of many county and city comprehensive plans within the region.
