Juan has been the lead creative for a number of major brands across multiple product categories. His career experience has made him an expert in Consumer Packaged Goods. Most recently, Juan has served as the VP of Product Design and Innovation at Travelpro; one of the premium US based luggage brands and the inventors of modern day rolling luggage. Since joining Travelpro, Juan has dedicated himself to making the company the most innovative brand in luggage. His current work at Travelpro includes being the lead creative for Product Design which includes managing the design and development of all luggage collections and accessories. In addition to his responsibilities as the VP of Product Design, Juan manages Travelpro’s Innovational R&D as well as a vast intellectual property (IP) portfolio. This IP is what sets Travelpro apart from other brands in luggage. He leads the innovational design process required to create these proprietary features. Furthermore, Mr. Phillips heads the creation of patent language for Travelpro’s intellectual property and manages the patents throughout their entire lifecycle.Innovation, concept and functionality fuel Juan’s passion for product design. As a young designer in New York City, fashion was a major influence on him. Mr. Phillips refers to his education at Pratt Institute when looking for concept and reason behind his design process. He has applied these fundamentals to all of the major brands and accessories he has designed throughout his career. That experience includes, accessory design for Jennifer Lopez, the design of couture millinery accessories for Badgley Mischka and serving as the Creative Director for Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger Luggage.
