NJROTC emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our U.S. maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology.The Naval Science Instructor teaches a multi-disciplinary curriculum that enhances the common secondary curriculum taught by adding context in real-world examination and application. The curriculum ranges from a first year cadet (9th grade) with the introduction of the martial culture and citizenship, to the fourth-year cadet (12th grade) where ethics, life-long learning, and planning and management are emphasized.Naval Science Instructors also balance teaching with year-round competition teams that practice before/after school and on weekends. Teams managed include: air rifle marksmanship, competition basic and exhibition drill teams, advanced physical fitness (Raider), cyber-defense/cyber security (CyberPatriot), and academic (Brainbrawl) teams.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:1. Over 100% increase in participation in less than one year (from 70 cadets, to over 150)2. Attrition rate significantly decreased3. Attained Distinguished Unit (top 30% in the nation) in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023 school years.4. Air Rifle Marksmanship team qualified for Navy Nationals for both 18/19 and 19/20 school years5. Restructured and re-branded the unit online presence and created its social media presence, immediately garnering attention from school, local government, and city leadership.

Department Manager (Communications Chief) across multiple elements for the U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF): 9th Communication Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 2nd Bn 5th Marine Regiment.Managed multiple teams responsible for global deployment of communications systems. Focused on modernization and rethinking the organization to allow additional 30% more projects to be executed with same headcount. Developed relationships and provided coordination between domestic and host nation efforts, providing short- and long-haul wired & wireless networks throughout the Pacific Rim. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Demand Planning Build-out – Previously, personnel within the 75-person section were assigned to projects “as needed” based on availability and skills, resulting in manpower shortfalls as new work emerged. Reconsidered the inbound demand mechanisms and set up specific teams and processes to forecast need and develop a pipeline for staffing that extended time horizon out a full year. Cross-Training and Flex Initiative – With improved demand planning allowing for longer-range forecasts, made further improvements to organization flexibility by implementing cross-training program. This allowed for teams to have universal baseline skills that allowed for smaller teams operate independently for the longer periods of time before specialized staff were required. Network Services Expansion – Addressed the limitations of existing wireless equipment / infrastructure by implementing Adaptive Network Wideband Waveform (ANW2) technology to converge voice and data transmissions onto a single platform. This allowed personnel to operate with fewer restrictions and extended the locations / situations where services could be provided.

9Th Communications Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Ca

Led network operations, help desk, and engineering efforts servicing tens of thousands of users / network nodes over multiple sites separated by hundreds of miles. As organization refocused efforts in new direction, managed facilities decommissioning, through the Retention and Redeployment, Retrograde, Reset and Reconstitution (R4) effort, handling the disposition of $4.4M of network and computer equipment.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Contractor Integration – Discovered situation where personnel skillset shortages would have led to dangerous degradation of systems and network services. By integrating contracted engineers to surge capacity, temporarily doubled the staff size and remained ahead of potential outages. Managing the role & responsibilities, processes, and inter-team relations enabling seamless integration and allowed frictionless ramp-up and subsequent ramp-down of staffing. Operations Pivot – As organizational priorities shifted, looked beyond immediate obligations toward emerging needs. Identified and addressed deficiencies and gaps that enabled teams to adapt to new requirements, learn new skills, and on-board new members. This allowed the organization to find new relevance and successfully support a new set of responsibilities even as other components were reorganized and disbanded. Operated as instructor, coordinator, and in various supervisory positions within the staff. Oversaw the execution of rapid training cycles that graduated nearly 800 students and prepared them for new leadership positions. In addition to conducting hands-on training, also developed new staff and oversaw execution to ensure fair, effective and standards-based execution across several dozen teams.KEY ACCOMPLISHMENT: Increased demand necessitated the addition of 12 new staff to handle several hundred new students. Took on these additional duties of training, preparing, and mentoring these new instructors while continuing to fulfill existing responsibilities for managing two full-time training classes.

Quantico, Va

Expedited the purchase of IT assets and ensured software license management and compliance. Position required familiarization with a cascading series of policies as well as a detailed understanding of the organizations network and information systems architecture.Key Accomplishment: Improved throughput of purchasing / acquisition of IT assets by 50% while still maintaining strict record-keeping and demonstrating compliance with all applicable organization policies.

Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California

Quickly advanced to become senior instructor. Conducted and supervised the instruction of over 1,750 students. Also took on additional duties of onboarding and mentoring other trainers. Key Accomplishment: Twice a recipient of the “Dan Daly” award – voted on by peers to recognize strong work ethic and dedication to their duties. Also a recipient of the “Band of Brothers” award for exceptional teamwork and esprit de corps.
