Team Lead, Senior Underwriter

- In accordance with established policies and procedures, underwriting consumer and real estate loans by reviewing and analyzing the creditworthiness of loan applications- Produce a high volume of quality loans that include consumer and home equity loans- Handle underwriting complaints and respond to a variety of lending inquiries- Ensure loan decisions are within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs)- Work within specified timeframes to assist in closing loans in a timely manner- Assist with training staff within the department (new team members and those promoted into underwriting roles)- Assist with ensuring the loan software and programs perform at an optimal level- Review team member activities on a regular basis, suggesting strategies and training for development, salary increases, promotions, or other actions to improve team members' and department performance- Conduct and review performance evaluations and make recommendations with regard to hiring and terminating employees- Assist mortgage lenders and processors with underwriting questions, complex mortgage applications, condition questions, and product or program questions- Recognize factors and red flags in the loan file to prevent borrower, appraiser, or lender misrepresentation- Identify and attend training as necessary for continued knowledge- Participate in continued mortgage compliance training including, but not limited to: Dodd-Frank Act, ATR/QM Rules, Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA-Regulation C), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA-Regulation B), Fair Housing Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, etc
