4 Puente Sobre el Canal De Panama - MOPIn this Design-Build project, TY Lin developed the conceptual design for bidders, with technical design criteria, structural health monitoring, contractual requirements, specifications and estimates. The design called for a large cable stayed span over the Panama Canal for mixed use (Vehicles and Monorail) and included three lanes of traffic in each direction, with two major traffic interchanges at both ends. An important part of the effort was the coordination with Third parties such as Metro de Panama, Autoridad del Canal de Panama, and others. We assisted the MOP in the bid process, and after contractor selection, we were responsible for preliminary and final design reviews, constructability reviews, and assistance to MOP during our contract.

Sheik Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway RA140 Shuwaikh-Subiyah (36 Km)In this Design-Build project, TY Lin was part of joint venture with Dar Al Handasah for design and construction supervision, Engineer's representative, construction engineering and inspection (CEI), erection and temporary works assistance and supervision, and assisting the Owner with all technical, legal, and contractual matters. The Design-Build contract was arranged on FIDIC terms. I was the Leader for 60+ Engineers and Inspectors from different nationalities and cultures.This amazing megaproject (US$2.1 billion) incorporated the most modern techniques for design and construction. The outcome was very successful , being one of the few projects in the area that finished on schedule and budget.

Responsible for design and construction of steel and concrete bridges.One of the milestones in this position was coordinating the design and construction of the Temporary Bypass Structure for the San Franciasco- Oakland Bay Bridge; this was the first Design-Buld project awarded by Caltrans.Other very interesting project is the Oyster Point OC over Hwy 101, in which we developed an in house traveller for building the segmental span of the bridge. This was the first cast in place segmental prestressed concrete bridge built over Caltrans right of way.
