Dr. Juan Sebastian Orjuela, known affectionately as “Juancho,” is a 2022 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, holding a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. With a deep-seated passion for fostering community bonds and propelling the veterinary field forward through the pillars of diversity, equity, and inclusion, Juancho has been a beacon of progressive thought and action. In 2020, he co-founded the Latinx Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA), a pioneering 501c3 Non-Profit Organization dedicated to supporting Latinx professionals within veterinary medicine. Juancho’s professional interests are wide-ranging, encompassing soft tissue surgery, community medicine, client education and community outreach. His commitment to excellence is matched by his linguistic prowess, being fluently bilingual in English and Spanish, a skill that greatly enhances his ability to serve a diverse clientele.Juancho’s journey to veterinary excellence has been geographically and culturally rich, having resided in three countries and seven different cities. Born in Bogota, Colombia, and migrating to the United States at the age of 10, he embodies the resilience and adaptability of the immigrant experience. Juancho’s academic achievements include a double major in Biology and Environmental Conservation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Juancho has cultivated a substantial following as a social media personality on Instagram under the handle @juancho.dvm. Here, he bridges the gap between veterinary medicine and the public, demystifying complex medical concepts with an engaging and accessible approach.
