My name is Juan Quintana. I was born and raised in the town of Ponce,PR. I’m currently a junior in the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez pursuing a bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering. Since I started my career I’ve had the chance to gain experience by working in: a combat robotics team (Think of Battlebots) where I applied C++ to program autonomous robots and JavaScript, HTML, CSS and Azure to develop the team’s website. I’m also currently working in a company, Stackz LLC, that I co founded with some friends. As the Technical Lead I’m in charge of choosing new technologies, optimizing our workflow and designing the system architecture. At Stackz we are currently developing a platform to make a centralized marketplace for local hardware stores with the objective to facilitate the jobs of contractors and allow the hardware stores to compete with big chain hardware stores that have similar platforms. Doing that project I’ve worked with system architecture, Databases(PostgreSQL), React/Next.js and Vercel. Most recently I joined an undergraduate research project about AI/ML Adversarial attacks in collaboration with MIT Lincoln labs .The research has as an objective to find vulnerabilities in pre-trained adversarial models and find faster ways to train robust models. I’ve also had the chance to attend a program given to google software engineers where across a semester I took classes about Data Structures and Algorithms, Professional preparation, Cloud Computing and Project Development. Along my years in college, I’ve also worked with Python and Java. I’m interested in Full Stack Development but can enjoy front-end or back-end equally. Most recently I have become interested in machine learning and artificial Intelligence.
