As an aspiring researcher, I have gained experience across multiple disciplines, acquiring a diverse set of skills that I have applied throughout my academic career. My research experience spans various fields, including annotating the genome of a bacteriophage, screening different Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains as a potential host for the viral PVY genome, extracting and analyzing shark fin DNA to combat illegal trade in Costa Rica, analyzing MAPK signaling expression in Vezf1 knockout murine embryonic stem cells through knockdown of CTCF, and inducing antimicrobial activity in previously isolated bacteria from my Microbiology class. In addition to my research endeavors, I have also served as a laboratory assistant in chemistry, biochemistry, and microbiology, and tutored undergraduate students in Spanish and chemistry. These experiences have enabled me to develop strong technical skills and foster a deep curiosity, both in the laboratory and within academic settings.
