Juan Jose Ramirez (“JJ”) is a passionate multilingual finance professional at the World Bank Group and is part of the Syndicated Finance division of the IFC within the Treasury and Mobilization department. Prior to his current role, Juan worked at Citigroup’s Institutional Credit Management team covering Latin American TMT clients. He has also held a number of positions at global investment banks such as Truist Securities, Raymond James, and State Street Global Markets. His experience includes roles in leveraged finance, DCM, private equity, corporate development, and strategy.Juan has a strong academic background with a BSBA in Finance and Economics and a concentration in investment management from UCF. He remains deeply connected to the College of Business Administration, where he served as a Student Ambassador under the guidance of Dean Paul Jarley for two years. During his time at UCF he conducted research in corporate finance titled “Optimal Capital Structure Under Changes in US Fiscal Policy and Optimal Levels of Leverage” in which he studied the relationship between credit ratings and leverage. The study analyzed how leverage influenced the risk profile of fortune 500 companies and how fiscal policy changes could impact optimal levels of debt targeted by large corporations in order to reduce their weighted-average cost of capital. Juan’s interest in emerging markets and development economics led him to volunteer with the ONE campaign to rally policymakers into taking action against extreme poverty. He has also engaged in development programs with the IMF and the World Bank Group and continues to be an avid advocate for global economic issues including inclusive growth, inequality, and climate change.
