My research focuses on discovery of human genetic variation that plays a role in disease.Career Biography:I grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and left after high school to earn a BS in Biology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After exploring career options in medical school, Silicon Valley, and National Institutes of Health, I earned a MS in Bioinformatics, mentored by Eleazar Eskin, and subsequently a PhD in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology at University of California in San Diego, mentored by Shankar Subramanian and funded by NHGRI. After a year as a Senior Statistician in Kelly Frazer’s lab, I joined the Mezey Lab at Cornell for a postdoctoral NHLBI fellowship in pulmonary genetic medicine, and was subsequently hired as faculty in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Weill Cornell as an Assistant Professor of Research. I recently started a new stage in my carreer as a Senior Manager in the Founder and Special Populations Group at the Regeneron Genomics Center, working with Dr Alan Shuldiner.
