    Selected to manage the mechanical engineering department, driving the design and development of new and current machines. American Extrusion is a world leading manufacturer of food extrusion machinery. In their main line of products there are extruders, ovens, fryers, mixers, cutters, and conveyors.Key Results & Responsibilities:- Managed up to 5 engineers and associates directly. - Created a system of fast meetings once a week for weekly report and new assignments.- Created an automation script on Excel using VBA for generation and posting of BOMs boosting efficiency and reducing time spent in BOM generation from several days to hours.- Created models of the Heat transfer behavior of the Ovens line and the Fryers line depending on the feeding product, size of oven, heating system used, and several other factors.- Created models for Extruders calculations, like dies maximum stress, SME of twin screw extruder, open area and pressure build up, etcetera.- Designed new equipment including, a 600 kg/h linear fryer, tube cutter, different shapes and dies. - Improved existing equipment to make it work under difficult conditions. High Altitude, high temperatures.- Selected materials and defined processes for new and existing parts.- Solved problems and support clients in the issues with our machinery.- Direct support and implication with R&D activities designing parts and solutions for them.- Direct contact with equipment suppliers for the selection and design of prototypes.- Lead on the selection process of new engineers.- Supervised 4 internships as well during this time being part of the selection process.
