Expert on Urban Strategy specialized in urbanism and technology, with multidisciplinary knowledge and extensive experience in strategy definition, project coordination and development, innovation, academic research, brand positioning and communication, as well as in the field of digital regulation. My main interests and capabilities are focused on the use of technology to achieve sustainability goals, applying data and artificial intelligence to improve our understanding of urban dynamics, and develop solutions that improve efficiency in order to achieve energy transition and climate change mitigation. I lead the area of Sustainability and Smart Cities at OdiseIA, an observatory of the ethical use of data and AI, created to reflect and propose actions around the opportunities and challenges of the extension of AI in our socioeconomic system. Until July 2021 I was part of BBVA's Data Strategy team, where I led initiatives around Data and AI at the intersection of several areas: smart cities, digital regulation, public affairs, strategic positioning and communication. Previously, I developed the first 10 years of my career as an urban engineer, which opened the door for me to join the BBVA Innovation Center as a project manager in technological innovation initiatives and smart cities in 2012. I have been part of a group of experts selected by the European Commission to promote data exchange initiatives between companies and governments and the development of solutions that make use of cross-sectoral information sources. I have a degree in Civil Engineering from the UPM and an Executive MBA from the EOI, and training in AI strategy from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and ethics in the use of data from the ODI.
