- Responsible for Financial Planning, Management Reporting, Finance Business Partners (Decision Support), Private Label Credit Cards, and the Gift Card portfolio of products- Manage the planning rhythms for a ~$4bn enterprise: short, medium, and long-term. Liaise and partner with the different operating groups (merchandising, retail operations, logistics, etc.) to build drivers-based bottoms-up plans and work with senior executives to identify gaps and opportunities- Coordinate the preparation and production of management reporting that helps identify drivers of financial performance and prepare month-end and quarter-end materials for review with our parent company (Best Buy Co.)- Pursue best-in-class access to data and reports, and work with the different operating groups to ensure that decisions are made based on facts, and in the best interest of the shareholders of the company- Lead a team of 25+ finance professionals and create a high-engagement environment where people understand the purpose of their work and how it fits within the company’s goals and their path to professional development

- Design and launch a suite of monthly-billed service programs (Geek Squad Membership) that challenged the company (traditional retail) to re-think its relationship with customers from a one-and-done (i.e. purchase of a computer at a store) to an ongoing Service plan that can be used as a differentiator and a competitive advantage in a highly commoditized and competitive landscape for consumer electronics- Deploy a team of Lean Six-Sigma engineers to aggressively go after efficiencies in our standard processes (warehousing at the stores, production of marketing materials, SKU creation, etc.). Results show significant improvements in operational efficiencies as well as savings well over $2m- Negotiate and launch a new partnership with Desjardins for our Private Label Credit Card program. Reduced financing costs by a half thanks to improved rates, and a new promotional strategy- Support the COO and CFO in producing ad-hoc analysis for high-value critical vendor negotiations

- Responsible for the Geek Squad portfolio of services which comprises a Canada-wide network that provides in-store, remote, and in-home services, as well as extended warranty programs sold at Best Buy and Future Shop branded stores and websites. Architect of Services strategy: create a 3-year plan for Services which maximizes the value of the current services portfolio while creating strategies for incremental growth in new channels and new customer technologies- Manage the Future Shop and Best Buy private label credit cards as well as the Reward Zone Visa cobranded product and the portfolio of gifting solutions (plastic and electronic). Design strategies to grow profit through financing promotions (i.e. 12, 18, 24 equal payment plans) in key categories by balancing the increased revenue with the associated financing cost- Manage an analytics and continuous improvement team which utilizes continuous improvement methodologies, data analysis, and process automation to provide fact-based and efficient business solutions for the services, supply chain and administration teams

- Responsible for all extended warranty programs sold in the Future Shop and Best Buy branded brick and mortar and web stores. Manage the Future Shop and Best Buy branded private label credit cards, the Reward Zone Visa cobrand, and all gifting solutions (plastic and electronic)- Improve profitability of the program: Launch new high-profit extended service contracts with a focus on consumer value and leveraging our existing service solutions- Negotiate and structure successful vendor partnerships worth over $2b in 5-years. Capitalize savings of over $30m

- Country CFO and architect of country development strategy. Divide the country in single and multi-store markets and define development priorities, including store size, site selection, multichannel strategy, marketing investment, and consumer financing tactics- Represent the Finance function at Mexico´s Executive Committee – liaise with other operational areas to drive results and update strategy- Responsible for FP&A, Decision Support, Controllership, Treasury, Financial Operations, Tax, GNFR, Financial Services, and Office Administration

- Responsible for all in-country Financial Planning activities. Produce an annual operating budget and current plan (trend), plus a 5-year plan that reflects the strategic risks and opportunities for developing the company’s business in Mexico- Evaluate all new investment opportunities and provide strategic advice to sr. leaders including new store openings, infrastructure investments, and strategic partnerships, as well as all in-country finance decision support activities- Produce management reports highlighting key performance drivers and leverage the benchmarks and expertise from Best Buy US, Canada and other geographies to share best practices, speed up country deployment and enhance performance

- Design, and build a driver-based 5-year plan for Best Buy International which consolidates the strategic plans of the countries where Best Buy has or is building a retail presence (Canada, China, Turkey, Mexico, and the United Kingdom). Work with local teams to coach them on the model and help them understand the key value drivers- Be the single-point of contact for Finance in Mexico which includes creating an operating budget, evaluating new investment opportunities (retail, infrastructure, and others), building the local Finance team, and supporting the decisions of the local leadership team from a finance standpoint- Create a model for the financial evaluation of new retail stores using EVA and DCF which is currently being used in Mexico, Turkey, China and the United Kingdom.

- Lead a cross-functional team of Finance and Retail Operations to deploy analytics and work with Best Buy US to find opportunities in the allocation of labor at Best Buy stores in Canada. Total savings in the first year of 15 bps (US$2.5m)- Analyze current business performance and point out operational and growth opportunities to senior management- Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis. - Design, create and maintain financial models for the valuation of new investment opportunities (M&A, new stores, divestitures, etc.) using DCF and EVA- Support the decision making process across the organization (merchants, operators, support groups) in diverse ad-hoc projects (examples include analysis of the wireless business and support for the overhaul of the reverse logistics process)- Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
