I am a believer in the power of business and entrepreneurship to accelerate the inclusive development of emerging countries. For the past +20 years I have started and scaled new businesses that create economic opportunity for lower income people in both Chile, my home country, and globally.More recently, I have led the team that launched and scaled the Global Entrepreneurship Practice at TechnoServe, a US nonprofit corporation that takes a business approach to reduce poverty in partnership with both the private and public sector. Now with operations in over 20 countries across Africa, Latin America and India, the Global Entrepreneurship practice is responsible for nearly half of TechnoServe’s global financial impact. In 2021 alone, an estimated 42,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) increased their revenue by approximately US$113 million due to our efforts to improve managerial and technical skills, access to finance and markets. Previously, with zero initial budget, I spearheaded and grew the Chilean branch of TechnoServe to establish it as the global leading practice of MSME development within the organization.Before TechnoServe, I joined the team that developed the Corporate Finance & Capital Markets business for BankBoston (later acquired by Bank of America) in Chile.Overall, I have developed skills in business development, negotiations with multiple stakeholders, public and private partnership development, team leading, use of technology in education, financial structuring, and impact investing both as an intrapreneur and as a senior global executive.I have further contributed to the development of the impact entrepreneurship field by participating in the governing boards of several initiatives like the global Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and the first impact investing fund in Chile.
