About Jude Love (Formerly Trapani)

Jude has more than three decades of experience creating award-winning restoration projects with landowners, government, and conservation organizations in the Western U.S. In his 30-year career as a Fisheries Biologist at the Bureau of Land Management & Bureau of Reclamation Jude collaborated with regional and local stakeholders to restore extensive areas of the Upper Salmon River & parts of the Columbia River Basin. He created an innovative and enduring collaboration between government experts and private landowners to secure watershed improvements in one of the most historically degraded natural environments in Idaho.Jude is the principle author the “History of the Lemhi River Valley Salmon Recovery Efforts” (2022), which chronicles rare collaboration between diverse stakeholders in the rural West. Lessons learned here have already been applied to many communities in the Columbia River basin. So far, the restoration efforts have been what was originally intended—to be a model of conservation efforts at the watershed (landscape) scale, without leaving people behind.Jude also teaches Tai Chi and Qigong at Zero Point Tai Chi and applies these ancient principles of harmony to the field of restoration. Jude studied Fishery Biology at Syracuse University. He lives in Montana with his wife and daughter.
