My name is Jude Sinclair and I am in my fourth year of Chemical Engineering at McGill University. I consider myself a collaborative person who is not afraid to take leadership roles in group settings. My creativity and curiosity allow numerous paths to be explored before finalizing a plan of action.Throughout this program, I have designed various types of applicable chemical engineering projects. Below are specific term project examples with their skills required:Process Control of a diluting system. - Built an industrial applicable control system on Altair Embed to control the desired pulp concentration to meet a desired standard. Created through macroscopic balances, leading to development of transfer function. Tested step and frequency responses to assure system stability.Methanol Synthesis using Biomass:- The goal of this project was to optimize the production of methanol through a multi-step synthesis. A detailed and realistic process flow diagram was created using Microsoft Visio. The steps involved included gasification, vaporization and gas-liquid separation. Social and environmental impacts were also taken into consideration. Excel was used in great depth to measure heat exchanges around the reactors.Measurement system to find optimal catalyst:- A measurement system was designed to compare various catalysts. A waste solution was calibrated to a specific concentration using an infrared light and photodetector combination which connects absorbance to concentration. Then, the same concentration solution is placed in a tank containing a catalyst sample. The porosity of the different catalysts was measured over time and compared to analyze the degradation rates of the catalysts. Economical and environmental impacts were also considered with the degregation rates to determine the optimal catalyst.Email : Jude.sinclair@mail.mcgill.ca
