In the short time as Executive Director, we set up a seamless process for on-boarding citizens who joined as members and paid a monthly subscription, started a campaign for electoral reforms called #MakeVotesCount which aggregated more than 4000 citizens from 25 states in the 6 geo-political zones to physically write the National Assembly on the need to amend the Electoral Act.Despite a dearth of resources (less than $1000 in operational funding), we also mobilised more than 100 citizens within three months in 9 states to independently organise outreaches in their states to collect signatures for the campaigns. Through our media strategy we also reached more than 100,000 people via videos and graphic flashcards through social media in 3 months. In total, we worked with a total of 43 volunteers and 13 active state coordinators who gave their time, resources, believed and continue to believe in the mission of the organisation. I engaged the participants in election violence conversations, emphasised the role of peace after the elections for their societal survival and introduced EiE to them as an organisation. These activities were done together with partners. My volunteerism with EiE also gave me the opportunity to represent the organisation as a partner organisation during the Governorship Debate in Bayelsa State - one of the states in the Niger Delta.Working together with volunteers, we also played a role in the organising of various concerts by artists who projected the RSVP message for youths to vote and participate in the elections.
