About Judge M. Dialwa

As a recent graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Sept 2024) from the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), I am passionate about Power Systems and advancing sustainable energy solutions. I am building expertise in Power System Modelling, Protection, and Arc Flash Studies, utilizing industry-standard tools such as ETAP to tackle complex engineering challenges. My career interest in power systems was ignited during my industrial attachment at Morupule B Power Station, where I witnessed firsthand the critical role that system reliability plays in ensuring stable power distribution. Following the May 2023 nationwide blackout in Botswana, I have been driven to explore innovative approaches to improve system reliability. Through online training, I have developed proficiency in load flow analysis, protection coordination, and transient stability studies. Currently, I am delving into the application of the IEEE 1584-2018 and NFPA 70E standards in arc flash risk assessment-- out of interest, contributing to safer and more resilient power systems. I am driven to bring my knowledge, skills, and problem-solving abilities to an entry-level role where I can collaborate with a team to drive impactful results in the energy sector. My technical competencies and interests I continue to nurture as I seek entry level positions include:-Power System Modelling & Protection-ETAP Software-Load Flow and Fault Analysis-Arc Flash Studies (IEEE 1584-2018, NFPA 70E)-System Reliability and Safety StandardsOutside of engineering, I am a creative fine artist, specializing in acrylic, ink, and pencil, and I believe that my artistic approach sharpens my innovative thinking and ability to tackle problems from multiple perspectives. I am also a dedicated fitness enthusiast, helping me foster focus, resilience, and determination—traits that I apply in my professional and personal endeavors. I had the opportunity to serve as one of the founding executive members of the IEEE BIUST Student Branch in Botswana, which had the mandate of fostering technology, networking between students and professionals, thus advancing technology for humanity.
