Currently, I am teaching 4th Grade at North Elementary in Sidney, Nebraska. This is my 16th year as a classroom teacher. My strength is bringing education to life for students and helping them develop and nurture a love of learning. In 2017, I helped create and develop a 4th Grade visual and web-based project, "Honoring 150 Years of Nebraska Agriculture: Homesteaders to 2017." This project was honored as a Signature Event by the Nebraska Sesquencentenail Committee. It honors Nebraska's 150th Birthday, Nebraska's Homesteaders and 150 Ag related jobs in Nebraska. Approximately 200 North Elementary 4th Graders will have worked on the project from 2017-2018. Nebraska State Standards in Language Arts, Social Studies, and Technology were fulfilled via this project. The entire educational staff at North Elementary worked to help our students be successful. The community volunteers, Ag Job Experts, and parents have made this project possible. Over the years, I have used many different types of technology to bring educational opportunities to my students such as Skype, Google Hangouts, and Distance Learning Technology. As an extension of our Nebraska Farm Bureau Ag Pen Pal Activities, my students wrote an article for the Sidney Sun Telegraph that highlighted our field trip to our Ag Pen Pal, Jeff Huffman's farm near Maxwell, Nebraska. The students have also created an Ag Pen Pal Show that they film using Imovie. The show is broadcast on the morning show at North Elementary. Both of these learning opportunities have provided real life experience of communicating information to others.
