Also an experienced higher education institution nurse educator and researcher, who is now retired.BackgroundJudie trained at London’s Romford School of Nursing qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 1990. She gained staffing experience in general medicine at Rush Green Hospital. She then led projects to start pre-admission services for Barking, Havering & Brentwood Health Authority, subsequently working as a Specialist Nurse. Judie joined Havering Hospitals as a Nurse Manager before leading practice development projects pan Barking, Havering & Redbridge NHS Trust. She also project managed multi-professional research studies as the study centre co-ordinator and Senior Research Nurse. She became a Senior Lecturer at London South Bank University (2001) moving to Anglia Ruskin University from 2011 to 2024. Judie was awarded a doctoral degree with the School of Law and Social Sciences, Division of Education, London South Bank University (2017). The Ed.D., professional doctorate in education, had a special focus on inequality, diversity, sustainability and inclusion (themes within the realm of social justice). Judie's research was: ‘Equality and diversity in clinical placements: Experiences of pre-registration student nurses with dyslexia’ - a study on the practice experiences of nursing students with dyslexia.
