Chief Executive OfficerMilk Crate Theatre Aug 2016 - Apr 2019Sydney, AustraliaAs CEO, I led the company to make many positive changes under a revitalised strategic plan: working with a group of amazing artists, social and community workers to truly change the story of homelessness. I was involved with Milk Crate Theatre since 2014, as a board member, interim than permanent CEO -- and it has been one of the most interesting, challenging and life-changing work experiences I have ever had: taking a company from the border of bankruptcy to rebuilding healthy partnerships, practices and reserves, all within a "wellbeing-first" paradigm. Between 2016 and 2019 we achieved:- increased turnover and increased reserves, through both revenue growth and reduced costs- more participants, including more women and younger people through targeted programs- more artists, engaged in leading workshops in a strengths-based methodology- more community partnerships and sites for our workshops- establishment of a fee for service initiative (Create X) to increase revenue and achieve strategic goals- increased engagement and income from individual and corporate donors - the making of our major work Natural Order - an immersive multi-artform experience, developed by our participants over 18 months under the leadership of Artistic Director, Margot Politis. Milk Crate Theatre provides creative opportunities for participants, with a lived experience of homelessness, mental health issues and disability to build confidence, skills and social connections to help them make positive changes in their lives. -
