About Judith Hall Obe

Health services in the developed and developing world need:1. clinical innovation: bringing research closer to patients. To work with business and industry to enable the introduction of innovation: rapidly for our patients;2. innovative strategies to developing world problems: why should the developing world make the mistakes we made during our development?3. research in the critically ill patient: these patients are sorely neglected;4. educated clinicians through good continuing education: my department offers great e-masters courses; 5. simulation education that effects outcomes: simulation must be made to make a palpable difference. I lead Cardiff University's Phoenix Project a broad-based collaboration between my own institution and the University of Namibia. Broad-based, however, with numerous in-depth projects. All in response to the United Nations directives. We seek sustainable poverty reduction and health promotion.Through education, the charity Mothers of Africa will make a difference to the survival of mums and children in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am Founder, Trustee and CEO of Mothers of Africa.I run a small innovation business: The Bill Mapleson Centre: Innovation, Education and EngagementI am a Council Member of the Royal College of AnaesthetistsI Chair Care And Social Service for Wales, National AdvisoryI am honoured to be a Board Member of MediWales

My international activity: Many Anaesthetists found BREXIT very disheartening, but however you voted it’s certainly time that our speciality started looking beyond our borders. Now is not the time to be isolationist, to be defeated by BREXIT. British Anaesthesia has clinical excellence and a safety culture to be proud of, but we must improve further. Especially in straightened times, this is best done by looking outwards, sharing and learning. I have spent much of my career collaborating in education, research and innovation with African, US and Europe. They have much to teach us. I think we can benefit hugely by working with developing world partners. While exporting our brand of excellence, we will inevitably become better ourselves. Show less
