Served as a law clerk to Judge Miller. Because of my previous law clerk experience, I was asked by Judge Miller to assist him in his move to the federal bench. I provide advice on policies and procedures for the office in addition to my regular law clerk duties which include researching legal issues, drafting memorandum opinions and orders, and providing assistance during trials.

Managed one-half of cases on the docket, researched legal issues, provided legal opinions to the Judge, drafted memorandum opinions and orders on civil and criminal matters, responded to communications from attorneys and public, and assisted during trials when necessary, including resolving jury instruction disputes and drafting instructions.

Supervised law students in the representation of legal clinic clients through all aspects of thelitigation process, including interviewing and counseling clients, drafting pleadings andmotions, conducting discovery, writing briefs, and appearing in court and administrativeproceedings. Developed and taught a seminar on alternative dispute resolution, fall semester,1985.

Handled cases at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. Areas of practice included civil rights, criminal defense, juvenile law, personal injury, domestic relations, property, wills and probate.

Conducted hearings on complaints of discrimination filed by federal employees and applicants for federal employment. Upon completion of hearings, wrote opinions containing findings of fact, conclusions of law, and recommended remedial action.

Provided case management and counseling to persons with disabilities employed in a sheltered workshop.
