What I know from from the experience of working on myself and with others over a sustained period is that there are basic principles which are pre-requisites for change which simply are not negotiable. If these principles are not understood and respected a belief develops that change comes with a new tool or another miracle formula because the last one was inferior in some way. There are plenty of great tools on the market, how they are interpreted and understood in the context of change is the key. The 'latest research' is also very seductive, and not infrequently tells us what we already know (we just are not aware), so affirmation rather than discovery. All new discoveries relating to behaviour change still rest on these same principles which must be embraced if ANY method is to work in the long- term.
